What’s on in March & April – Shore Archery Club

Hello Shore Archery members,

Firstly thank you to those who helped out at the working bee last Sunday. Thanks to you the club is looking in much better shape all round!

Please see below for what is coming up in the next couple of months.

1st, 15th Mar – Interclub postal league Round 5

Throughout the season, clubs post their scores every round (1-2 months each) and are faced with a team from another club. Being a league format, teams from each club will be ranked in their league depending on the results throughout the season. March will be the last round for this year.

More information can be found here (https://www.archerynz.co.nz/interclub/#1724807496072-8441bf0b-ce98). On the two weekends noted we’ll take scores from archers to fill our teams for the final round (March). It is a Canadian 900 round, meaning a total of 90 arrows will be shot across 3 distances (30/30/30). Distances vary depending on bow type and division.

No need to sign up, just appear at club shoot time. For this year we’ve entered 2 teams, so the top 6 archers’ scores will be submitted from our club.

29/30th Mar – North Island Senior Target Champs

This year we will be hosting the NI Senior Target champs on the weekend (29/30th March). This is a competition where some of the top archers from around the country will be competing in their divisions.

There will be NO club / novice / development / youth shoot on that weekend as the competition will run for the two days.

However we will be needing help to run the event, so if you can help on any of the two days please let Jun (tournaments@shorearchery.co.nz) know.

18- 24th April – 2025 Outdoor nationals

Not an event hosted by Shore, but in April the biggest competition in NZ archery is being held this year in Auckland. Please see here (https://www.archery.org.nz/2025-outdoor-nationals-event-dates-and-details/) for details. As a lot of archers are training towards this event, there will be no other events being held at the club in the month of April.

Thank you,

Jun

“Year-End Updates and Reminders December 2024”

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying the lovely sunny weather, and looking forward to Christmas / New Year celebrations!

Just a few important notices and updates for you all:

Working Bee: The Committee is organising a working bee for Sunday 16 February 2025. This is a great chance for everyone to help around the clubhouse/range, meet your fellow members, and even pick up some new skills! We will be sending out a tasklist and schedule closer to the time, but please save the date in your calendars.

Learning Compound: We are also looking at growing our compound community, and the Committee would like to start by seeing how many existing members are interested in learning how to shoot compound. If you are interested in giving compound a try, please fill out the Expression of Interest form: Shooting Compound – Expression of Interest

Novice & Youth Shoots: Siu-Ling and Sophie will be taking a well-deserved rest from 29 December-19 January inclusive, so Novice and Youth Shoots will not happen during this time. They will recommence these sessions on 26 January 2024.

Membership Cards: Your membership cards are available from the lockbox containing the sign-in sheet/sunscreen. Please come down during scheduled shoots, or anytime a target keyholder is present, to collect your membership cards. Range Captains may ask for proof of membership (we have had issues in the past with non-members turning up to shoot). If your membership card is missing, please email me to get one made for you.

2025 Shoot Schedule: Please find here the 2025 Shoot Schedule: 2025 Shoot Schedule . Please note that this is subject to change once the ADAA600 and other events are scheduled, and will be updated accordingly.

Sunday Shoot Trial: We are running a trial to look at the possibility of adding another club shoot to our schedule. Every Sunday from 12 Jan-9 Feb (inclusive), we will hold a Sunday Shoot from 2pm-4pm. The clubhouse will be open as per Saturday club shoots. Based on how many people turn up, we may look at adding this as another regular club shoot. Thank you to the keyholders who have volunteered to run these  sessions!

Clubhouse Chores: Please continue to sign up for chores to help around the clubhouse. The club runs on volunteers and everyone needs to do their part. The roster for Dec-March is posted on the bow cupboard now.

That’s all from us. Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a fabulous New Year!

What’s On in September & October

Hi everyone,

The format will be 30 arrows at 3 different distances, 90 arrows and distances depending on division. Please see attached pdf for details. There is no entrance fee and no need to register in advance, just turn up on the day if you feel ready. Saturday 12 October, 11am-1pm. ANZ Interclub Challenge Postal. This is the ‘league’ format, where each club will have their members shoot Burton (3×30 arrows at different distances, total 90 arrows) rounds, and scores will be submitted to do a round robin against other clubs. Please reach out to Jun (captain@shorearchery.co.nz) for details on distances.

Finally, congratulations also to the teams who represented Shore Archery Club during this year’s ANZ InterClub Challenge. Great results all around – please find attached. Shore A (Paul, David, & Shah) came first in their respective division – well done!
