Shore Archery Club – What’s On in November and December

Hi everyone,

Here is your guide to what’s on in November and December at Shore Archery Club!

2nd Nov, 9th Nov – Interclub Postal League (Round 1)
Throughout the season, clubs post their scores every round (1-2 months each) and are faced with a team from another club. Being a league format, teams from each club will be ranked in their league depending on the results throughout the season.
More information can be found here (https://www.archerynz.co.nz/interclub/#1724807496072-8441bf0b-ce98 ). On the two weekends coming we’ll take scores from archers to fill our teams for the first round (Oct/Nov). It is a Canadian 900 round, meaning a total of 90 arrows will be shot across 3 distances (30/30/30). Distances vary depending on bow type and division.
No need to sign up, just appear at club shoot time. For this year we’ve entered 2 teams, so the top 6 archers’ scores will be submitted from our club.

23rd Nov – Ken Leyman Memorial Shoot
Every year Shore Archery hosts the Ken Leyman memorial which is a major tournament. There will be no club shoot on this day, registered competitors only- done through ArcheryOSA. This year we’ll be running a single WA720 format, 72 arrows at your division’s distance.
More information and registration here (https://archeryosa.com/event/details/ken-leyman-memorial-2024-419). Entries are full for a lot of divisions, especially for Recurve. Please reach out to Jun for availability options and questions specific to your situation.

7th Dec – Xmas Novelty shoot
To wrap up the year, we will hold a fun novelty shoot where members can gather to shoot in a fun format and have BBQ to bond. This will be at the regular club shoot time.

14th Dec – Interclub Postal League (Round 2, Dec/Jan)
Round 2 of the postal league. If you cannot make this weekend we will have more chances in January next year.

What’s On in September & October

Hi everyone,

Spring is here already, and I hope you are all keeping healthy and looking forward to an archery-filled summer! My apologies for the lateness of this email.

Please find below our events for September and October. Thank you to our club captain, Jun, for organizing!

Saturday 7 September, 11am-1pm: WA720. A nice, friendly, informal practice competition shooting 72 arrows at your shooting division distances. Held alongside club shoot.

Saturday 21 September: Oceania Challenge Practice. During August/September, there will be a cross-continent competition happening where we will be shooting and scoring in our own clubs and submitting the scores. The format will be 30 arrows at 3 different distances, 90 arrows and distances depending on division. Please see attached pdf for details. There is no entrance fee and no need to register in advance, just turn up on the day if you feel ready. For our club we’ll plan to practice on the 21st and shoot on the 28th, but please feel free to score on the 21st.

Sunday 22 September: A.G.M. at 10am at the clubhouse. Please see your inbox for more!

Saturday 28 September: Oceania Challenge. See above, and please find attached PDF with the Oceania Challenge guidelines.

Saturday 12 October, 11am-1pm. ANZ Interclub Challenge Postal. This is the ‘league’ format, where each club will have their members shoot Burton (3×30 arrows at different distances, total 90 arrows) rounds, and scores will be submitted to do a round robin against other clubs. Please reach out to Jun (captain@shorearchery.co.nz) for details on distances.

Saturday 26 October, 11am-1pm. ANZ Interclub Challenge Postal.

Finally, congratulations also to the teams who represented Shore Archery Club during this year’s ANZ InterClub Challenge. Great results all around – please find attached. Shore A (Paul, David, & Shah) came first in their respective division – well done!

That’s all for now. Enjoy your weekend!
